Think it could have been a lifter that was "stuck"?? 
My dad listened to the valve cover and thinks that there is a slight lifter noise and that may have been a stuck lifter at one time. So we are going to detail the car, change the fluids, and repair the flat tire. After that since I now live in Sunnyvale, my Dad is going to drive the dart to save on gas.
