Newby To the site, But lifelong Mopar fan.
« on: July 06, 2007 - 12:43:59 PM »
Hello from Nebraska. I have had a great number of Mopars, am currently down to a few (4). I have been a bad boy as I have  strayed from the cars for a while. My sons started racing motocross about 15 years agao and the cars have sat (inside). Now they are grown,Except the oops baby he is seven. My oldest has jumped the fence and has a warmed over 00 GT ford and an 03 Cobra Terminator. It has motivated me to get my Challenger project out a drive it a little. It needs a lot of work but is still fun to drive. It is a1973, Black on Black (vt), with Black interior and Black strobe stripes. I have redone the insides and restored the airconditioning . The outside needs the old paint stripped and redone. I think it is fairly rare as the options list is common except the Black stripes on the Black car (anyone know how rare?) The list is as follows 340 four barrel, bulged hood with scoops, side scoops, front disc, antisway bars,391 suregrip, air conditioning,727 trans, slap stick, ralle gauges,Rear exhaust tips, ralley wheels, and flip top gas cap.

Welcome to the site.  You will find a ton of good info on here, so good luck with fixing your Challenger.

Also if you have any pics, we would love to see them, and we do not care how good or bad it may look, just post them.   :2thumbs:

Thanks for the welcome, I live in North Platte. I will figure out how to scan some pics of it from the old days, Those were when I had it as a young man and did not realize the value of stock. Now I have actually read the tag and realized it would be better served as a restoration or close to it.As I said it was not a mint car but at this point it runs good. Here is a video my son and I made. On the way out there the camera worked good but once we were there it would not run without being plugged in to the truck (also a dodge). It is not the greatest video but was a nice burnout. The first one I start off slow and shift to second, then mash it and take my foot off the brake and let it sing,  shift to drive and left about 300ft of rubber.

Welcome to the site. I'm originally from Genoa, Nebraska but have lived in Illinois longer than I lived there now and I grew up in Nebraska. Sounds like a nice Challenger and the Video sounded like a very good running 340. Stick around and enjoy all the site has to offer and post some pictures when you get a chance.

Thank you. Genoa, I used to race motocross at the track they had there (1982). That track was the best track in Nebraska, they had a monster of a jump I think they called Bonzi hill.
