Accident at Granpa's Growler (update 8-14)
« on: July 08, 2007 - 10:10:59 AM »
Some guy (drunk) ran into my car in the lot at Granpa's Growler. And then he was going to drive away. Good thing we had not went inside yet. We called the cops and yes he was drunk. Now I know I am going to have fun getting his insurance to pay.

Any one with more pictures of the accident, please e-mail the pictures to me at ***, I may need them. Thanks.

He left with the police and so did his friend. But they could not charge DWI cause they didn't witness him driving. Some witness must come to trial and say he was driving the car at the time. I did not want to come back to Pa. for a trial. So they gave them both public drunkeness citations and the had to leave the cars. Not what I wanted realy, I would have like to seen them both go to jail.

At least you were lucky enough to find the guy.

I watched it happen from acrossed the lot, along with about a 10-12 others in total disbelief!!! I had to run over and stop him trying to drive away.

That really stinks about the Challenger... but the aftermath is kind of funny. The Challenger seems to only have a few dings and dents on the end of the bumper... and the VW has a huge cave in, square in the middle. They don't build em like they used to.

The fender buckled out and is driven back, so now when opening the door it is worse than before. The valance is tweeked and he smashed head light bezel some more. Along with bending the bumper some.

Pretty optomistic drunk if you ask me.   :drunk:  Imagine this:  a drunk in a Jetta trying to run away from a parking lot full of Big block, Small block and Hemi Cuda's and Challengers.    :burnout:   Not good odds when you scour the parking lot and all you see are Bada$$ Cuda's and Challengers.    :ylsuper:   Drunks are pretty stupid for the most part and this just another fine example of that.     :cooldancing:
BTW--glad you caought the sorry a$$ that did this and I hope it all works out for you in the end....

purple1, sorry to hear about your accident. As you know it could have been alot worse. At least you got the guy. Get all his insurance info and go thru his insurance carrier and if you can't get an agreed price with his company, then go to your company and let them subrogate against the other guys company. Good luck with the claim and just be very persistant until you get what you want...

That just sux, especially being out of town too. I hope your car gets back together at least as it was if not better. Many years ago a drunk wrecked my left quarter panel making a wide turn and kept driving. When I ran after them and stopped the car the passenger still had a 6-pack (not carbs) in her lap. I can truly relate to what you're going through. Good luck again
