Carlisle 2007 - What REALLY happened...
« on: July 08, 2007 - 08:10:21 PM »
For those of you who start hearing about the events of Carlisle, I figured I'd reveal some of the things that may be skipped over.  The following names are NOT hidden so as NOT to protect the innocent!!

First things first, Dave (4Cruizin') put our lives into jeopardy by building a portable grill...

luckily no one was seriously injured.

Then we unveiled the car to Don, and he was just SO excited that he kinda let his son, Riley, get a little carried away...

Then, pumped up from all the energy and excitement, April and her husband Joe - the New York Gummo Guys - really made the best of what Carlisle has to offer:

Later, Riley went back to hittin' the sauce,

while Dave mumbled sweet nothings to Neil (ChrycoPsycho)

Ah yes, fun times at Carlisle 2007.

Actually, 4Cruizin' suggested waiting until he was taking a sip to snap a "folllow-up" photo.  So I plead the 5th!!

You forgot about tuning your car in the Hotel parking lot ... the annual event which didn`t really happen this year due to getting to the hotel later than usual & getting dark too fast

Funny story about that.  Funny as in you're going to laugh your ass off at me...

I drove it to work today - she still shines like hell, and I wanted to show off some pictures and my little plaque to the guys at my shop.  As I'm heading into my first turn from home, the car starts to run real bad - like it had no throttle response.  I was instantly reminded of the time my '01 Stratus had the filter fall off the cold-air-intake and sucked a leaf up against the mass airflow sensor - it would accelerate to like 20mph and then just couldn't go any quicker.  It stumbled through the turn then suddenly kinda picked up again - went down the access road a bit to the road my shop is on, took the left turn and kinda gunned it.  It launched at first then bogged again - real bad.  I got into my store's lot (I live 1.5 miles from my store) and backed into my spot.  I revved the engine up to see how it responded and it was just real sluggish - like oil had turned into molasses...  I cut it off, and it wouldn't start again.  I thought "Aw crap, and Chrycho's gone!"

Luckily I found out quickly what was the problem...

I was out of gas.

Jeff

P.S.  I do sincerely and deeply appreciate your help that evening too - my car is running better than ever before.  Really - thank you.

I was lucky too.
400 miles out, when pulling into a station to fill up, I heard my left and right wheel bearings  making loud creaking and clunking noises.   I was 6 hours from home and no way to fix it on a Sunday so back on the highway to St. Louis.  It made it back but will have to be changed out before Columbus.

I bought this b-body rear from a guy a couple of years ago. I greased the wheel bearings but he might not have ever done it before I got it.   It still lasted about 12,000 miles for me. Some guys think that the rear end lube takes care of that. It's not a Chevy. You guys need to drive your cars more.

Hemidog, April, BabyElephant and the remaining crew that saw me do a small burnout;   How was it?   Being 800 miles from home, I didn't lay into it and go through 2nd gear.  I usually do it, then get the hell out of there.  Did I leave a couple of good marks?  I really nail it when I'm closer to home.

You guys need to drive your cars more.
