Anybody knows something about this Cuda???
« on: July 11, 2007 - 05:39:09 AM »
Hi,

I know this might be a long shot but here it comes. I bought my Cuda last year in Kentucky from a private person. He told me he got the car for almost a year and couldn't tell anything else about it or it's history. I was wondering if anybody on this board recognize it and could tell me something about it? History/pictures/owners/engine/trans and so on.

The VIN no is BS23N0B124243

Here's what the fender tag says:

E63 383-4 Barrel

I attached some pictures of it I got from the guy I bought it from.

I had alot of information and pictures of my old 1970 Challenger but on this car I have nothing...  :dunno:

Nice car!!!

A couple of things I noticed.  'CUDA trim on the grille, doors and tail are missing as is the lower grille insert. It looks like someone replaced the 'CUDA emblem on the tail with the inside door panel version and the fenders look a little muddy...

Do all the VIN numbers match? It kinda looks like a rebody  :dunno:

All and all a great looking car!! Do you wanna trade  :naughty:

I think the grille have been repainted at some point along with the rest of the car. I don't know why the red bar is missing but i just ordered a new one from P.G. a couple of days ago. and I already got a new lower insert mounted.

Did all Cuda's have the trim on top of the doors?

The holes for the rear trim has just been closed with some filler. I removed it gently with a screwdriver so now it ready to mount the new mouldings i got from P.G. but I'm waiting for the clips to mount them.

Are you saying the Cuda emblem on the tailight panel is for the door panels??? I have to look into that  :)

What's muddy fenders meaning?

Yeah, the VIN numbers match.

One more thing.... The tail panel molding that you are referring to (holes being filled in) is the M88 code for 1970 and not 1/4 panel tape..  I have seen that code on ebay a few times, I don't know where they are getting it from.....   Also, the space between where the molding should go and the edge of the tail panel should be the same as the color of the car. In other words, the black paint should meet the color of the car under the tail panel molding......

PS--- Very nice ride by the way.......

Thanks! I know it have to be body color outside the moldings but I wont paint it until I'm ready to mount the moldings.

I thought the M88 - Quater Panel Tape Treatment was the hockey stribe? I just typed the fendertag No. into an online decoder and copy/pasted it.

Was is this option?: V5X Black - Mouldings - Protective Insert Body Side

Yeah, the VIN numbers match.
All 'CUDAs have the trim on top of the doors.  The only production 'CUDAs that don't are the AARs. Some preproduction 'CUDAs don't have the door trim.

If the tailpanel trim holes were there then your in good shape. If they weren't I would have been worried

'CUDA emblem looks too small to me, here are some comparison pics

Muddy means some bondo showing. On the front of the pass fender and rear quarter mostly

Great news that the VIN numbers match. VIN tag, cowl and radiator support are most important
