Tranny Pan Heads Up!!!
« on: July 16, 2007 - 12:24:11 PM »
The Mopar Performance deep steel pan that I always use on  my customers race trannies has had a price increase. They were around $55 from Summit Racing, they are now $95! and the Dealers tell me they can not get them.(they are on national back order)

For $10 more ,you can now get a cast aluminum one.

A chrome one is now $61.95  :screwy:

:wow: I wonder what is driving that price increase?  Perhaps it is the war in Iraq.  Up here in the northwest we've had all sorts of problems with people stealing phone lines, crash barriers and other metal items that can be removed quickly.     :villagers:  There definately is a shortage but I haven't heard why.

The 904 equivalent one is still $54.95.Now you know as well as I do that it takes no more to make the 904 one than the 727 one. :grinno:

I understand the problem now.  They forgot to use the word "HEMI" in front of the word  727.  It all makes sense now. :aarg:

It's not a shortage - it's extremely high scrap prices at the moment.  The price increase may be a direct reflection that when the last made them in 2002 the price was "x" to make, now 2007, the material now costs a bunch and you said you want to buy only 200 now instead of 20000.

I see this alot in my job as a fabrication estimator and funny thing is, the folks making the parts get REALLY angry a price increase.  Fact still remains - Mopars = Gold

Which explains why I'm trying like the dickens to get my car completely finished this summer.  I can't afford the way prices for things keep escalating.

I put a cast one on from Summit yesterday for my 904 to that seepage for good. Good news is that it did not come with the Summit logo cast into it. I liek the discount of summit branded parts, but they are going to have to discount alot more for me to advertise for them. On a related note the summit and jegs brand AN fitting are also marked with their logos, and it does not come off. Only for use under the car for me.

sounds to me that this price increase is based upon product popularity, availability and mostly GREED  kinda like the ups and downs in oil prices

My thoughts too! Maybe if sales go down from people choosing to buy a different pan ,the price will come back down.

MoparPartz.com still shows it for $47.20 but I won't believe it till I try to order one.
