Do the body work properly - metal with patches, prep and use weld thru epoxy primer and then get a coat of single stage PPG on asap as the epoxy will absorb moisture within a week or so. This will last you about 30years if you look after it like airing out the trunk every now and then and don't use as a daily driver through rain, hail or sleet.
