Indy Manifold and shaker hood????
« on: July 17, 2007 - 04:46:21 PM »
Not sure if this is an engine question or a body question so im just gonna post it here and I'm sure the mods will help me out.

The Indy 426-1 manifold. Does anyone know if it will fit under the hood with a shaker?

Will the bubble fit under the hood without hitting, in otherwords, is it to tall to work?

anyone??? :clueless: :dunno:

Nice site , I cannot find a pic of the 426-1 intake
try contacting Indy & ask them , my hunch is it will be too tall

thanks, sent an email to Indy, hopefully they will get back to me. Want to keep the motor sort of stock looking, but with a shaker bubble it will hide the intake manifold anyhow, so i can get a way with something better then stock.

I had a torquer that made the shaker hit.  Most likely the only thing Indy will know is the manifold height.  You will have to compare this with a stock setup, both with carbs, to see where you end up.

Its more than likely going to make your bubble sit higher. Get the height and compare it to stock and that will be your difference. You might be able to adjust or fabricate something on your baseplate or make a custom base to adjust.

are you sure thats the 426-1 and not the 426-2? That is a dominator carb on top of that (4500) and the the 426-1 is not a dominator manifold.

Wow... I remember the days when guys ran tunnel rams through their shaker holes.... That almost...almost looks like a tunnel ram.

Go EFI and you can get a really really short throttle body on there.

I talked to an Mass Flo, they use an indy manifold and said the TB would fit under a shaker with a little modification

The place I copied it from said it was the 426-1.   :dunno:

I did that.  The manifold didn't leave enough money for velosity stacks so I used beer cans instead for a week.  Some of these cars that have survived deserve to be babied.  LOL
