Not trying to upset the apple cart here, but these fast times are NOT run on bias ply street tires for these cars.  In order to run the low ET's that they are running, they are allowed to run DR's. (Drag Radials).  Look at  the video I posted earlier of these FAST cars running.  They ALL have either Hoosier or M/T dr's on the rear.  No way to run low 11's or high 10's on bias ply tires in a 3800 lb car.

I think this was a one time event where they allowed drag radials for the shootout.

1974 Challenger Rallye - 440+.040, 0 decked, 10.5:1, Ross Pistons, Hughes 3844 cam (238/244, .536/.540), Eddy RPM manifold, Eddy aluminum heads, Holley 750, TTI headers, .96" T-bars, IAS shocks, 1 1/8" front sway bar, 3/4" rear sway bar, XHD 6 leaf springs, Firm Feel stage 2 steering box.

I was standing 10' from Ralph Barbagallo's Hemi RR, it clicked off some high 11s. And I watched the Vette make it's first 10.95 pass. They dont rocket off the line, but they for certain run the ETs on them. I think it was a Buick, the Corvette, and Hemi Dave's car that had a shootout on race tires. The vette actually slowed down a little IIRC, the Hemi and Buick went faster IIRC. Somewhere online (maybe moparts?) there was a video of the runs too..
