Just read the "Bad Day" thread. It reminded me of my first accident with my new Barracuda.
I picked up my brand new Barracuda after work on a Friday in 1970. Drove it straight home (about 25 miles) and parked it. Got up early Saturday and washed and detailed it - as if it needed it, it was brand new, 43 miles on it! The sun was shining, a beautiful West Coast Saturday. Drove downtown to show off. Windows down, AM radio playing, pack of smokes in the T-shirt sleeve, feeling COOOOL! Stopped at the red light, sitting there watching the people look at my new ride (remember- I was only 20 then) and BAM!!! some old lady with her 64 Chebby forgot to keep her foot on the brake and she automatically rolled into the back of my car.
Y'know, it did NO damage at all. (In fact, I still own the car and still can't find any damage from her, even tho' i've been trying for almost 40 years!) The only good thing about it all was that because she reminded me of my Grandmother I couldn't kill her on the spot. In fact I was really quite nice about the whole thing. She was SOOOO sorry!
Because I had now had the first accident, the subsequent one didn't hurt as much and I only had to kill the guy a little bit.
