Adjusting trunk lid
« on: July 18, 2007 - 07:28:45 AM »
My trunk lid is out of adjustment on the passenger side...it sits up maybe a 1/4 of an inch to high.  Is it easy to adjust it down into alignment?  How is thi done?  As you can tell...I haven't crawled into my trunk and tried to figure it out myself yet.   ::)

Thanks

Is it 1/4" too high on the rear edge, forward edge, or the whole passenger side?  :clueless:

Its high on that whole side but it seems to be highest at the end of the lid....the trim on the lid is about 1/4" higher than the trim around the tail lights.

I can't get to my car right now to check for adjustments but is this something that you can open the trunk and grab it at both ends and give it a litte twist to get the passenger side down?  I know you have the rear spoiler so it might be a little tough to hold the trunk lid.

The bolts that are the closest to the rear deck filler panel do your up and down adjustments.  You need barely loosen your front , to the tailights, bolts and then loosen the rear bolts.  This will allow the deck lid to adjust lower.  Just push down on it.  Then you need to tighten the bolts and see how it fits. Do this in small increments.  If you get the deck lid too low when you close it it will catch on the deck filler panel and not allow you to reopen it.  You will then at least damage the paint prying it loose.

If the inside of the trunk is as nice as the outside you may just want to leave it until you need a pepaint.  The lid may be mounted 'high' on the hinges.  I have had trunk lids that needed bent to finally match up.  There is no way I can tell if yours is that type over the net.
