Alternator rebuild
« on: July 20, 2007 - 10:25:47 AM »
Anyone ever rebuild their alternator before?

I don't like the looks of the new style alternator (incorrect webbing) and I would like to keep the original designed look. Where do you get the parts? Or who sells them already done?

I once rebuilt one a long time ago in auto shop and recall how easy it was.

I looked on line for parts and never found a source. I'll ask 4C.

Thanks CP.

I took the alternator apart that I got and then I put the front half of that one (diode type) onto the one that is an original 71 alternator (3 field)
The original 71 front half portion had a missing web on the front.

So now I have an original 71 alternator for my engine. This is why I wanted to rebuild it.
