Need Moderator Help Please
« on: July 24, 2007 - 01:18:07 PM »
A guy I met on-line asked me for help and I'm pretty much a newb myself. Here is his message:

" Can you help me reach a moderator on Cuda-Challenger.com?
My son and I just bought a 71 Challenger and have many questions. We send in our regsitraion request and nothing comes back. Our emaili nexlevelinc@msn.com"

Sounds like they want to join! Thanks

I think that the admins do this stuff.  Hopefully Rev sees this, or Ross.  4C, do you do this stuff?

Kinda makes you wonder how that porn crap gets in every once in a while, and legit people cant.   :-\

Hope they get here soon!   :dogpile:

If we need help, I can be in charge of handling the emails that are sent to users and stuff like that......I'm usually on this site during the day at work....the only times not good for me are usually after 7pm EST. But I can help if needed....just drop me a PM and let me know.  :2thumbs:

I think if CC.com is like most other PHP based forums its automatic. You register on the website, include a valid email address and submit the registration page/form. An automatic email is then sent to the email address the requestor specified with a special link. Once clicked, it activates the account. This reduces the possiblity of robot accounts being created for spamming or other activities.

I could be wrong but I really doubt our mods have time to screen requests and launch the emails manually. I would sooner believe that MSN is trapping the activation emails and is misidentifying them as spam or containing malicious content.  :dunno:

Ross and I hand approve each registration.  I have never seen this one come in though. We were getting spammed so badly with the automatic registration, we had to stop it.

I'll watch for it, or have him send me an email with the name he would like to use and I'll add him.  Sounds like he'll be a great member!  My email is ll_davis@hotmail.com

Thanks for your help!

Well I would have lost that bet. I'll bet Laura and Ross get plenty busy then having to do them on a case-by-case basis.

Well, for the most part it's easy.  The "Viagra4You" guy is an easy "Reject".  :smilielol: :smilielol:

Well when I applied I got NO acceptance e-mail either as stated on the sign up page! I had to have my friend that was already a member check and see IF I was approved and he said I was in the members list so I tried my log in name and password and woala I was in!!  maxedwell tell that guy to try his login name and password and see if his account WAS approved and he just DIDN'T get the e-mail! like me! if my friend hadn't checked I probably still wouldn't be on and I would be STILL waiting for that stupid e-mail that NEVER did come!!   :banghead: EVER!!!!
