70 Vert restoration underway
« on: July 26, 2007 - 08:55:43 AM »
I have not been on in a while.  But I wanted to share my progress.  I was restoring a camaro for the last two years and put my real love (challengers) on the back burner for a while.  But I finally am able to get back to my 70 convertible.  I have replace the trunk floor and outer w/w's and finished the engine compartment.  Now I am working on the tail panel.  I am making great progress every weekend and will update my picturetrail page.

Looking good!   :bananasmi   Boy you are braver than me cutting off so much sheet metal and having it on a rotisserie.

Nice work, But you should really have a crossbrace in the door openings. Especially on a conv while on a rotissorie. You may have problems with door fit and top fit later in the assembly. These bodies flex bad with all the structure gone.

Looks very good.  You know I do not think everyone realizes just how much these bodies bend even in a turn with all 4 wheels on the ground.  They flex a lot and I had a few that you could hear a pop when going into a corner.  they can even be messed up when jacking the car up if not done properly.  They will bend easier than you think.  Just a little input.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development
