Jim,
If you pre-register like I did, you pay $65 and you get 2 people and 1 car in for the entire Fri-Sat-Sun show.  If you just drive up, for a day, it's $20 a person plus parking if you don't want to pay the $80 non pre-registered fee.

I go for the swap meet, the drag racing and the nightly burn-outs. I don't think I ever missed any Nats yet.  At Carlisle, there is no drag racing unless you want to drive over to a track miles away.

Well, I cannot speak for the show costs, because my car is not ready yet.  So I just walk up and pay $40 for a 2-day ticket, which doesn't seem so bad.

I don't really mind the disorganization too much, maybe because I have been there so many times  (National Trail is only so big, and there's only so much they can do).  And I'm not slagging the Nats overall (except the darn golf carts!).  It just seemed like the whole thing was a little 'down' this year, compared to previous years.  The number of cars racing was the smallest I've ever seen.

But I really go for the swap meet, and to see some top-notch cars and talk to their owners.  Maybe I need to check out Carlisle next year.

I've never been to the Nats, but Carlisle is only $35 to cover your car for all 3 days, not $65.  :screwy:  Maybe I won't go to the Nats next year, given what has been said and all.  :dunno:

Robb, that is what we have done in the past even though we went for just the one day, but as you know you have to "pre-register" before a certain date, and this year we were a bit undecided what we were going to do. So we didn't, but honestly wheather you pre-register or not it's still the principle of the thing, that you are obviously and grossly being taken advantage of. Also a few years back your pre-registertaion fee included the goodie bag with an events T, that also stopped, the T-shirt cost now an additional $20.00. Granted that is a standard rate for a T, but when it was included, the $65.00 was a bit better  :roflsmiley: .

Sure Carlisle is cheaper but entertainment costs money. Where is the drag racers payout going to come from? It's got to be somewhat worthwile for them to entertain us. Then there's Indy and the Proving Grounds, what's the price to go out on those tracks? I've never been to Carlisle but other than a car show and swap meet what else do they provide. Ahh, I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

One last thing, there's a ton of Challenger owners on this site and it's your tribute year in "08, so you gotta bring 'em.

The guys who race pay their own entry fees etc. Don't get me wrong in one regard, even though the $65.00 three day registeration fee for a car and two people for three days is "acceptable" then why the hell does he charge $80.00 for the a one day pass. The answer, he is gouging ya just like the gas companies are doing at the pumps. I have to buy gas to go to work etc. and as I said I do plan to attend next year (the tribute year to the Challenger), but I doubt I'll go back to National Trails for another Mopar Nats. Not just a money issue...............PRINCIPLE. !

Hey Jim,

I'll see ya at Carlisle.  It seems even though it's more traveling for you, it's a tad cheaper.   :eek4: Does Lord Galen own the Nats out there, or what?     :lol2:

Mike, as I stated, we have in the past couple years prepaid the $65.00, and I guess I knew what it was going to cost me that Saturday, but it wasn't on my mind until the guy said $80.00 and explaind the cost break down. I'm not a rich man, but I'm not hurting either (usually  :roflsmiley: ), but if Jim (the owner) had been collecting I'd given him a $100.00 and told him " Keep the change, you obviously 'need' it more than I do". Truthfully, I didn't start to "stew" over this until the first of this week, I just can't stand greed in people, and sorry I don't know how else to explain it.  :dunno:

I don't really go for the racing . . and if I did want to go for the racing . . I'd go to the US Nationals in Indi as that is as good as it gets!!   :burnout:   The Mother of drag racing!  The Big daddy of "go fast"!  You get the idea!   :bananasmi

Well Guys I was VERY pleased to finally meet some of you face to face..Also disapointed that I wasn't able to get around and see others that I knew were there..
I had 2 swap spaces and 4 standard tickets(usually 8 Vendor and 6+ standard passes).$$$$$ is tough all over and a lot of people are proving it at ALL the shows I go to.I knew in January at the 1st show this year that things were going to be rough....Sales on everything have been down DRASTICALLY..
I sold 9 Items(3 were pre-sell that I delivered to Nats).I GROSSED $700.I spent around $1500 without already owning the parts I had.
I tried to sell a couple of members stuff for them and only had a couple nibbles and they were so far off on a price it embarassed both of us.Things that should normally sell fast..

No matter how ticked off I am I'll be back next year and next year and next year...I'm too stupid not to go..I've been there since I had one of my BO29(68 HEMI B-Fish)that I drove at the proving grounds...I took some parts with me and was one of the 1st ever VENDORS of the Mopar Nationals(All Chrysler Enthusiast).

Party On Guys....
