Are all 727 trannys the same?
I am putting a 6.1 hemi in my 70 challenger and want a 727 auto which one should I be looking for? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

I believe the 6.1 has the same bellhousing as a small block. If so,you need a small block 727 with a 4 clutch direct drum and a regular car tail housing. Do you want a Lock Up or a Non Lock Up?.

Lock up's have a clutch in the torque converter that locks up and takes the fluid coupling part of it out .(makes it direct,no slippage)
727 - Non-lock-up 24 spline 1967+
727 - Non-lock-up 19 spline up to 1966
727 - Lock-up 23 spline 1978+
