Stroker motor oiling system question
« on: July 30, 2007 - 08:46:32 PM »
I built a 440 with 4.15 crank, I have to run a swinging pickup due to the stroke of the crank. My question is if anyone is running a swinging or static pickup in a E body with factory motor mounts. Looks like the oil line runs right into the left motor mount. Any pics would help a great deal. Looks like I might get by by notching the mount and running a 90 degree fitting off the oil pump. Trying to get this thing in before the Nats......I got tires to smoke ya know!!

Milodon makes an adapter kit for your oil pump that comes with the fittings. But you can run a 3/8 internal pickup I have done it to about 5   4.15  stroker crank 440's without a glitch

The kit has a plate that has the fittings on them and comes with the hoses. You may need the long rotor,The internal tube, you grind a bit off the side to let the crank clear.  IT WILL CLEAR

Okay so what you are saying is if I grind on my 3/8 pickup tube it will clear the crank and I can run a regular oiling system? And Milodon makes a kit for the swinging pickup. So really I wont need the kit if I grind the pick up..is that correct? :clueless:

That is correct. Also as I recall, the crank comes very close to where the tube screws into the block.  It took me all of 30 minutes to gring and install for clearance.

Biggest thing is keep everything clean of course.

Ya I had to grind my block at the same spot. Well it worked like you said. Took my pickup and ground off at the base and it clears the rod bolts :jumping:
Something so simple is so easy to over look. :2thumbs:
Thanks again

What Al said. I run 3/8 internal pickups with the 4.25 chevy sized cranks now with no mods.
