Gauge Pods - A-pillar

Hey all,

I want to see if there is any aftermarket parts available in the form of gauge cluster pods to replace the factory A-pillar trim piece of a 73 E-body 'Cuda.

Now I know, I know, a-pillar pods are kinda "tuner"ish, but I like 'em, and I like the cleanliness and molded-in look they provide.  If nothing else I'm gonna hunt down a reproduction pillar trim piece and just mold in gauge pods with fiberglass, but I'd much rather get something professionally made.  I'm only looking for a two-gauge pod - I want oil pressure and tachometer.

Anyways, if anyone knows a place that makes/sells 'em, please let me know!  Thanks.

I don't know about A piller pods, but Just Dashes has come out with dash pads with three  2 1/16 guage pods in the center, angled towards the driver. Unfortunatly I think it is only a B body things right now.

i've 'heard' that apillar pods for a eagle talon (like the eclipse) will fit...

I've never tried it, just heard on a board at some point they do

Yeah, I doubt anyone makes one for an E-body.  Here's some pics that I took at a car show.  It shouldn't be that hard to mold that in to the A-pillar.  The harder part might be trying to make the grain match.  Also, make sure they make a tach that small.

Goofy idea here.....

Take a soda/beer can and cut it open.  (Or any other pliable peice of sheet metal.)  Place a peice of paper on the A-pillar (so as to not scratch it) and press the sheet metal on to the A-pillar to mimic the contour of the A-pillar.  Cut off the length just good enough to cover the A-pillar width.  Then take this to a local auto parts store that sells A-pillar pods and see which fits best.

Again, just a goofy idea......

Eh, I'd just buy an aftermarket rivet-on style like the one pictured, then cut and fiberglass-mold it.  Not really worried about the grain - I'll just body-fill the grain of the original panel - make the whole thing smooth.

Sounds like a great plan.  It's amazing what you can do with fiberglass and body filler and a lot of patience.     I put a floor shifter in my 2000 Dakota and made a custom console out of fiberglass that most people thought was a factory setup when I was done.

I'm watching an a-pillar auction on ebay - it's gonna run me 40 bucks or more per chance, and I dunno if I wanna lay that down just yet, but we'll see...  I'll know in about 45 minutes...

Here is a pic of a a pilliar pod I put on my old 70 barracuda. It was a universal one and I just used a heat gun to soften the plastic up and formed it around the moulding.Be careful when doing because it will get pretty hot so were gloves.

Still kind of a goofy place in my opinion. Dont they only take the small 2 1/16 gauges? Kinda far from the driver.  i ran a-pillars on my mustang, very good place for em
