Quick gas tank Question
« on: August 01, 2007 - 02:39:39 PM »
Time to re install my gas tank.  Where they painted or left unpainted on 70 Challengers?  How about the undercoating?
Thanks

:iagree:
You may want to put a layer of material between the body and tank, but that is up to you.

I personally painted mine black and use a layer of tar paper, but others will tell you differently.

 Mine was completely undercoated.

BTW: Did you buy a new tank? If so where? I'm in the market for one.

I got mine from rockauto.com.

Usually like $156 or so but one of the nice members had a discount code (5% off) so I got a new tank for  about $150.  Came with fuel sending unit ring and gasket (Not the unit itself.)  Plus shipping.

I noticed that the stock number, something like CRF-8 or whatnot, was the same stock number for other vendors so I assume they are from the same supplier, sorry, forgot the name.

I don't have a current discount code.  Here's an old code that expired but you can try it to see if it works.

"Your discount code is:

 651980589220

Here's how to use it:

 * Enter your code in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart.
 * If you are using our traditional HTML catalog, please click the "Set" button to the right of the field.
 * Your discount will automatically appear, subtracted from your order total.

**NOTE: We sometimes get calls from people who put the word "discount" in front of their code and do not get the discount.  Please enter ONLY the discount code, no other words or numbers.**

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices, and there's no limit on order size or the number of orders.  Use the code for your next order, and share the code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on July 3, 2007; so don't wait!"

Where is that unit made friend?

My Ch*#y buddy bought a tank out of Canada and he said it was perfect factory spec. He can't remember the manufacturer though :faint:. I need help soon as the water heater (in the garage) is 4 feet away from the back of the car and it kinda bothers me.

I'll have to see if I still have the box in the garage somewhere... I think it was Spectre, but I'm not 100% on it.  I'll see if I can find it.

I bought mine several years ago, so my purchase info would not be up to date.

I think it might be the same thing.

Found out Spectra only sells to suppliers. I think this maybe one of them. They were closed when I called today so will try tomorrow.

Anyone had any dealings with the seller? Looking at the fuel lines, sender, and even the brake lines while I,m down there. :working:

Another question if I may, my 70 Challenger is an LA built car so it has the 4 vent tubes. Can someone confirm that the 71 listed here will fit?

Thanks again, :worshippy

I've had no dealings with the seller, but the feedback looks great, as well as the price.

My car is a 70 LA plant car, but I don't have 4 vent tubes. Is your car made for California emissions? That might explain it.   :dunno: I do believe in '71 they had 4 vent lines though in all cars. 70 gas tanks were unique. But maybe you have a tank from a later year??
