'71 Challenger
« on: August 01, 2007 - 08:59:25 PM »
As I promised a few days ago in the WIW section I am offering my '71 for sale here first. The car is an original fender and quarter panel cloned 318 Challenger. I bought the car from the second owner who knew of the car since it was new. For those who like documentation, this is your car. Original window sticker, owners manual, dealer promo catalog, and build sheet. I also have the original license and registration tags for several of the first  years. The car was originally F3 green/ green interior. This is on older resto done in 1999 by a proffesional restoration shop. The engine drivetrain also built by a pro back to stock specs. 1971 440 HP w/ 727 and 83/4 391 gears. The car needs nothing as is, but it was my intention to replace the dash pad [has a cover now] and install ralley gauges but just have not gotten there yet. The 2 opinions I got earlier in the WIW section hovered around 30k so I am asking 29500 . Interested people can contact me for further info. Please be patient, as I am only in my office a little each day, but I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for your interest

Wow... your car is IDENTICAL to what I'm doing with my Challenger, color, vinyl top.  Only difference is the rims.

What point are you at in the resto Ryan? Did you start with a 318 car also? Just curious, Thanks, Gary

Mine started out as a 71 R/T with 383.  Now NOM, but still has a nice warmed over 383.  I am at the point of putting it back together... trying to find the parts I lost... Sold the wrong bumper... hehe.  I am over an hour away working and at school sadly.  Can't get back to finish the car up.  I'm planning a whole weekend back and home and do a mad dash to put the old girl back together the best I can.

Thanks, been a long journey to get here.  Do you have any more pics of the Chally, I'd love to see them.  You can follow my restoration on my website below in the Misc section, under "My Projects".

Good luck with the sale.

Nice car at a good price.  I see guys paying 10,000 grand for rollers and wonder how they plan to build a car for less then asking price of a finished car?

Thanks Vanished for the honest assessment. Until you have done one of those rollers everyone thinks that they can be put together cheaper than a finished car, but that usually just is not the case if you do them right. That is why you see so many torn apart half done cars for sale.  Rant over! I don't mean to belittle anyone's car or project by any means, but I always think of car restos like a house remodeling job- original best estimate x 1.5 = finished project!
