Imports vs Muscle
« on: December 22, 2003 - 05:52:21 AM »
The only thing muscle cars are good for is going fast and straight and being loud and most of the time not even street legal. They are bad on gas, old looking, old interior, start hard in the winters, usually rusty, cost 5x more than they did 20 years ago.

Imports- All the latest technology as far as audio, engine, etc etc... comfortable. Fast. CAN TAKE CORNERS WELL. Last longer. More reliable. Easily modified. Look better. Don't eat gas.

It's all a matter of taste. Some of us prefer messing with the cars we grew up with. They were alot simpler to work on than today's cars. Besides, it's kind of neat to have a car that's rare. How many Honda Civic's do you see out there?

If you love them that much why come here and tell us??  ::)Opinions that's all it comes down to...

As far as fast in straight lines, they were built that way - back when men where men they raced straight, salt flats, out side Buger King aka fonzie. The jappas should handle better there built for "road racing" with 30 plus years of tech to boot, I have one a Subaru RSK-B4 Twin-turbo bla bla bla, Way better comfort, less gas, better handling by far BUT there aint nothing like cranking over some V8 Muscle to get the blood pumping, plus the Subaru's way slower, LMAO!!  8)
Gas means only that to the driver - we buy them knowing they are expensive to run, who cares!! If you work at Burger King or are still at school then don't buy one - once your've payed for your gas, hop in start her up that's when you know that it's all worth the gas and then some.

Most of the eights aren't street legal because there doing quick times, when your doing 7 second quarters of course it won't be street legal and don't get me started on the quickest of both worlds, no comparison!!

Eights = 4 second 1/4's, Imports = 8 - maybe the eights should remove 4 spark plugs to even things up??? LOL  8)

I'd love to see a import fetching 100K plus in 30 plus years let-alone 100 bucks, I've heard some funny stuff said about eights here's one: "Eights a for people who need to "enhance" there man hood!!" That's some funny stuff which I wouldn't waste my time on usually but, why? why would we need to do that when they come out the factory looking and performing like Concrete eating machines - Jappas are the ones going out there and putting "50hp" mufflers, stickers, lights (neon add more hp) wings from nam, and plenty of other non-estential mods. V8's are higway beasts and there aint much more to it than that - we'll let the riceys muck around in 25mph areas..........

Horse-powers good but Torque wins racers, which in term means there aint no replacement for displacement  8)

So far, what I like most about Old Muscle is what he doesn't:

Going fast and straight and being loud, old looking, old interior.  Mine always start easy in winter.  Mine actually cost less than they did 30 years ago and will be worth much more as time goes on.

What I don't like about Flied Lice:

All the latest technology as far as audio, engine etc.  ( Gimmee that old tyme Rock N Roll )  ;D  No they're not fast,  don't last longer, near impossible to modify ( unless you count stickers and Hot Air intakes ).  Definately DON'T look better, they all look the same.  And will be worth squat in the future.

I agree with WSM, you probably won't like it here, but to each their own.

my intention really wasnt to flame anyone or anyones taste. I guess it was sort of mislead. I do infact love mopar cars and imports.. my post/opinion was aimed at those of you in the kill stories who post things like "KILLED ANOTHER RICER" well jesus.. pushing out 350+ hp against a civic or something. I would sure hope you would win. Like I said I do enjoy the older cars. But when you flame imports.. its really out of stupidity I think. They are nice cars and I listed a bunch of reasons already. Does anyone have any mopar daily drivers? how is the gas on that?

JGainesia,

My post wasn't meant as a flame, although I do think a lot of what "ricers" do is stupid, like putting a big wing on the rear of a front wheel drive car.  I don't consider an Import car a ricer unless it is stupidly done.  I own an 87 Mazda RX-7 and an 86 Toyota Supra, neither riced up or slow ( or FWD, now that I think about it  hehe).

Anyway,  I have a 73 RoadRunner daily driver that gets around 20mpg average.  It's a 318  3-spd, but can still fry the tires when I feel like wasting money on rubber.   ;)  and spank a Honda or two when necessary.

Happy Holidays,

well i didnt see this thread til everytone made most of my points for me. the biggest are the fact that in 30 years how much will that honda be worth? 50 bucks? my cuda when done will be worth around 25 large, not bad for a car that was only around 3K brand new!!!!! to be completely honest the thing about the ricers that i hate isnt necessarilly the cars or the looks of them but mostly the drivers that think they got somthing and when beaten by old true muscle they whine about the fact that the old muscle has 8 cyl and they only have 4 or 6. well that is what they chose and they should choose their races better then, adn stay away from the true rulers of the street ;D ;D ;D  watch and learn somthing rather than running their mouths and then making excuses

how much did people think their cars (mopars) would be worth today? history will repeat itself again. And why when you think of imports does everyone directly go to hondas? I agree there are ALOT of stupid people who throw the wing and exhaust on a civic. but thats their choice... if it makes them feel good doing it, great. that honda will last longer and get 40mpg along with being a very quick , nice looking car.

JGainesia let me tell you that if a mopar muscle car and an import had the hoods poped at the mall, there is no question what car will get the bigest crowd of onlookers :o
