Let's do a simple math equation again...

1 Honda + 1 1.8L 4 cylinder (let's say VTECH just for grins) + 1 preppied up, stuck up jock = a slow car

Now... add a Wing, a "50HP" fart can, a turbo, an intercooler, a bunch of Japanese stickers, NOS (which isn't even street legal) and a short throw shifter (for those "quick" stop light races) and you still have a slow car...

It's only common sense that a small engine will go slow and a big engine will go fast... granted, I've seen a couple Honda's run 9 second quarters... but the total dollar value invested is about 3-4 times the amount that my COMPLETED 'Cuda will EVER be worth...

Invest less then $5000 in a classic engine.... and you'll be putting out more power then what the Honda weighs.... ::) ;)

Just remember... my lug nuts require more torque then your Honda makes....AND.... 2L of Pepsi vs. 1.8L VTECH... hmmmm..... ::) ::) 8)

Wow guys, I can't believe I missed this thread.....Alright, here it goes....... To not just take out Hondas, which do make good engines for quads (ATV's for lames term ::) ) and I will have a CBR when outta college.....But that's where the "love", as to put it, ends.  Let's see, stick $30,000 into an engine, V-tec of course, and then put another $8,000.00 into body kits and all that other nonsense that really doesn't effect performance.  Then if you're lucky, you'll be able to turn high 12's.....Whereas, if you are just an average Joe, but want some performance, no, stickers on my Toyota don't count, you buy an old, clean...aka "no rust" American muscle car (notice I'm not even too specific here) for $10,000 99.8% restored, that leaves you with another $5,000. to put together one hellava engine.  That car, with the $5,000 engine and $10,000 purchase cost for a car = $15,000 (for those math geniuses) ;D and can probably hit high 11's or low 12's, but possibly better depending on who's knowledge goes into the engine....On the Ricer end, yes the cars with the bright green air filter, pink paint, pink interior, and the WazooA 32" non-adjustable wing dangling off the back of your four door (E-bodies are only two doors, if that gives you an understanding of it being a "sports" car) has a price tag of a cool $48,000 or so for a car that can be seen from one end of the coast to the other.  When I purchase a vehicle, actually my Challenger is my only car because I'm 18, I want it to stand out and get the looks.....That's why I choose MoPar and it has got to be a Challenger or 'Cuda.....How many of them do you see driving around town as compared to the millions of Toyotas, Hondas, and Acuras running around?
Sure, American muscle takes more gas, but if you want performance, you need to be willing to pay the cost.....Four extra cylinders will do that to a vehicle.
Lastly, the part about "lasting longer" isn't true, at least from what I've experienced (I'm sure others can vouch for that).  You think cars that have lasted for 30+ years sitting in garages, out in deserts (mine), or sitting idle for these years haven't lasted long enough?  My parents have a Toyota that's 12 years old and it was taken care of, yet it's already rusting out thanks to the tin can sheetmetal thickness they use....Metal lasts longer than ABS plastic...It's just a law of what materials are used.... ::)
Like others have already mentioned, it's not really the cars that I dislike so much, but rather the cocky drivers behind the wheel who think they can take on the world cuz they're "tuff".  C'mon, anybody can be tough if they have a gun or constant hatred towards other.  Hope you get the picture..... ::)  It's one thing to state your opinions about our cars in a Ricer board, but it's another thing to say it on our boards...I don't quite know if you're hear to learn more about the old iron, which would be cool to see, but it's another thing if you joined just to tell us "your crew is better than ours".  Check out the Ricer sites and you won't find me taking out my time to write stupid threads about how much I hate these cars...It's my opinion and I keep it to myself unless I find someone else who feels the same.  With that said, enjoy the site!  ;D

JGainesia let me tell you that if a mopar muscle car and an import had the hoods poped at the mall, there is no question what car will get the bigest crowd of onlookers :o

thats an ignorant remark. i suppose if your talking like a show room condition CUDA or something verses a honda civic or something.. lol duh. ok how about a show room cuda and a 98 twin turbo toyota supra (show room condition) personally... i would look at the supra.

see.. just what i thought.. alot of you get out of hand and go directly to DRAG RACING as your only agrument. Which without a doubt a mopar would most likely win.

Congrats. You own a drag racing car. Alot of you are missing the points. Anyone live where it snows? It's alot easier driving a front wheel drive car then a 400 hp rear wheel car in the snow. I can go with this topic all year. I probably never should of brought it up. But it pisses me off always reading the forums... " YAH I SMOKED A 120 HP NISSAN SENTRA WITH MY HEMI LAST NIGHT.. YAAAAH MAAAN " ....................................................... Half of you are so ignorant you dont even take in the GOOD points of owning an import. Like I said. I love mopars and I love imports. I was mainly throwing this out to the ignorant musclers.

Ok here is my 2 cents  ;) everyone has their opinion and is entitled to their opinion  :) If you like imports. . OK so what??  We like muscle cars :-* Great.  I built my muscle car from the ground up with my own two hands.  I physically built my car!! Everything!! including the engine, trans, wiring, dash, paint, interior and all the little pieces that make up a my car!  It is a piece of me!  Not only is it something that takes me from place to place, but an expression of myself!

mopars can handle the road good. there was a write up that a mopar (charger I think) that they road race.

I don't see why so many like Hondas...I've worked on them and I don't see anything that impresses me.
they seem to rust the most. there was some that we couldn't work on....to bad the jack it up. they were less than 10 years old.   Acuras are just expensive hondas

toyotas-i like them, but the rust out quick also.

the ricers attitude and the way they act are the main cause of...i guess...... disrespect.

it was a muscle car era...there haven't been nothing like it to date and likely never will..you could go to the dealer and order a race car..try that now.

driving in the snow, haha ya right it was in the 70's today yes thats 12/22/03.    most of the other people here have other cars for transportation.   trucks, imports, domestics.
if you have problems in the snow move south (no wait stay up there) there are to many people down here.

you have never seen or driven a 40mpg honda, driving like a jac! a$$, very few get this mileage on a good day.

as for your first few comments  radio, modern electronic
that is what we are trying to get away.
as for the wings, flat black hood, rims, after market hood, paint it was all done 35 years ago.

and if modern technology (fuel, style, electronics, ect. ect.  most here would probably prefer a
Viper
Vette
MUSK RAT
BMW
AUDI
BENZ
FERRARI
as a few members could buy a few for invested time and money.

AS for air bags when a 5000lb truck runs your ass over a stupid bag wont save a thing.  reasons air bags suck
1 they don't work all the time---
2 they hurt and kill many people who would have walked away
3 the expensive
4 they are false assurance

read the law some day-----  just because you vehicle runs a 7.53 in the 1/4 has a very unhappy blown alki hemi and is in a stock body duster does not make it ilegal,    put mufflers, lights, turn signals, seat belts, glass windshield, and windshield wippers ect ect. and run it all day.  (the duster was not in a MCG mag last year)
1965 barracuda. Was 273/2 904 car had 440 360 in plans

any car will rust if you dont take care of it... thats another ignorant remark. And how do you define a 'ricer attitude' ... its younger generation? About about the 'Muscle attitude' ?? These so called "ricers" may have the same view of you?

So now you're trying to impress us with a good looking chick modeling in front of an already $35K car, then modified with I don't even want to guess how much more money invested, plus a custom paint job... so now you've spent what, $50-60K on a perfectly decent $35K car... ::) ask yourself this question... WHY??

I could get that same chick to model in front of my 'Cuda... a stock 'Cuda mind you without all those fancy bodykits, rims, wings, etc etc... and she would look better... plus it would be more pleasing to the eyes... I'd rather have her on my hood then in front of the car... (IMO!)... ::) :D

You're right... every car does rust... and I'll admit... my 'Cuda is full of it (rust that is!)... that's why I'm going through the pain-staking hours of rebuilding her and giving her a new life... if you've got the guts to attempt this with a muscle car... go buy a Honda to save you gas money so you can put more towards your car... don't buy a Honda to "rice" it out and "try" and make it fast... Honda and fast just don't go together in a sentence... it's a proven fact!! ;)

Let's take a poll...which sounds better ::) ::)

A. Fast Honda

OR

B. Fast Mopar

My vote is A... sure, call me biased... I made this poll... even before I was a hardcore Mopar purist... I disliked Honda's... you want to know why?? THEY'RE SLOW!! I don't like slow cars... I like to go fast... not be quick.. be fast.. quick is, "Ohhh... I hit 50 in first gear 100 feet past the intersection" (how long did it take your car to hit 50... and I want to know how you didn't blow your engine!)... fast is "Hey! I hit 135 in the quarter mile in 10 seconds...".... ::) ::) 8)

Common sense and logic is what the "younger generation" as you put it lacks... granted... you will find that the MAJORITY of those that drive Honda's and such are a-holes... but it's their whole perspective on not only their cars... but how they THINK they can be fast... come on... you've got stickers, a 4 foot wing on a FRONT WHEEL drive car, rims with tires that have a 1" sidewall, a fart can that is SUPPOSED to make your car cool... HOW?!?!?! That fart can alone takes away any and all backpressure you had to keep your exhaust flowing, and actually ROBS you of HP... and those lightweight rims... might as well have kept the stock ones and scratched the wing... the weight you saved with the rims was just added by the wing... and probably all the stickers plastered all over your car too... ::) ::)

As far as driving in the snow... I've driven (for an extended period of time - more then 3 months) both my 'Cuda, and an old '84 318i in the snow... and now my current car, my Grand Am... I would take either of the rear wheel drive cars over my GA... the handling is better, you have more control of where your car goes when, and it's more fun too! :D Just can't seem to pull the doughnuts that I used to be able too...  ::) :'(

It's 3:30am... I'm off to bed... am I still so narrow minded and ignorant... or does this count as a good, decent, smart discussion/arguement?!

i thought i was one of the younger generation(25now) had my first challenger when i was 15.and i don't act like that.

what is the muscle car attitude.. i work 6 days a week ASE tech.and help answer questions others have on this board and others.if i can  ..and with being an ASE tech i also work on imports it's all money in by pocket.

i was just stating that i don't see why honda's are so popular.

if you would read it..... i wasn't putting down all imports
i said that i like toyota

yes all cars will rust if not taken care of but they seem to be the worst.

I remember you starting this thread with comments about our cars being old, loud etc.   Sorry we don't all agree with you, but that's how it goes sometimes.  As for narrow minded, gee this is a MOPAR site, yeah we like them.  Ignorant ?  You screwed up there, there are more intelligent and informed people on this site than any other site I've been to.

I live a few miles from a Honda plant, get to talk to the people who work there ( I got a lot of friends who do ).   They get a great deal on Honda's because they work there.  Most of them drive Chryslers and Chevies.  Why?  They see how "Imports" are made.

Nuff for now,
