I've been enjoying reading this thread started by "Paniesa" or "Ganiesa" or whatever his/her name is.

Really hilarious reading what he posted...
- Imports "look better." Lol. Is that what he calls "looking good?" Blob or egg-shaped things with no chrome or bumpers to speak of? Just shows he has no taste at all! Compare one of those funny-looking things to a '68-'70 Charger or '70 'Cuda/Challenger.

- Imports "last longer." How would he know that? How can a '60s U.S. muscle car be compared with an '80s or '90s import? I've seen many muscle cars at car shows that still have the original (unrebuilt) engine and/or transmission. In fact, most muscle cars had quite good reliability- especially considering the hard treatment most endure (burnouts, street or track racing, etc.).

- Imports are "easily modified." Where did he get that from? I modified my '66 Dart right in my driveway. Putting on an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold and 4-bbl carb was pretty easy. When I finished, the car started right up! I also put in a shift kit in the driveway. Just crawled under the car, pulled the oil pan, did the mods and was finished! Actually, a lot easier compared to an import!

- Muscle cars... "old-looking/old interior." Of course they are old-looking- that's one of the reasons for their appeal. I happen to like chrome bumpers and trim, and interiors that aren't 99% plastic. In fact, "new-looking" cars turn me off completely.

:iagree:  It's been a while since this was opened again, but I feel it was needed.  It's something how ignorant some people are with their beliefs.  The part about they last longer really cracked me up.  Steel lasts longer than plastic and one of them have been around for thirty or more years than the other. How can you possibly justify that remark when one's clearly much younger than the other? :dupe:
1973 Dodge Challenger......................The ongoing project. (00/----\00)
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo....The sunny day cruiser (RTBoost)
1990 Toyota Celica GT Liftback...........The new daily & winter driver.
All-American Muscle: 'Cudas and Challengers...Still the Elite and always will be.

Yeah, you know, I practically thank God everyday that I have the good taste of being an enthusiast of classic Mopars and '50s-'70s U.S. cars in general, and not an enthusiast of those strange-looking "things" some people claim are cars!

I'm still laughing at what that guy said... the photo posted by "Ghost" just proves how dumb-looking the rice cars are!

BTW, Ghost, an excellent comparison! I'll print that and bring it with me to the Friday night car gathering; I'm sure it will get many laughs!

I can't take the credit for it.  I just found it on another Mopar website.

Oh, okay.

I like your username... I should thought of that. I'm a big fan of ghosts (even though they are usually invisible).

A ghostly image (an "orb") actually appeared in a Halloween photo I took last year:

If any rice lover wants to put their money where their mouth is, lets get a 1968 Dodge Powerwagon and any foreign pickup truck of the same year and lets have a little pull contest. That Dodge would pull the Datsun or whatever ricer truck they had back then backwards and wouldn't even know it was there! Cars included!!! Same holds true now with the new fangled trucks with the foreign nametags, they are trying to keep up with the American trucks, going with V-8's and copycating many of the features. They have never been better and never will be! I've had enough Datsun or Nissan cars earlier on in my life to know I don't want to ever own a ricer again.  :gripe:

I just had to throw in my unworthy couple of lines... this Jgaines or whatever mentioned about mileage-per-gallon issue. Yeah, if ya throw in 20-30000$ restoring the car... who the F*** cares what's the consume?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, let me throw in an example... here in Finland, 98 octane gas costs average 1.18Euros per liter = 5.89$ per gallon!!! Yes, ya read it right.. a 6 bucks a gallon and I really don't give a nuts how much my 500 incher sucks the juice!!!
There's some fuel economy for the ricer guy

LMAO!!!   Right on brother!!!  :iagree: It's like, yeah, petrol is a little high but it's all worth it mate.  8)
Crank the engine over and you know why you put that money into the tank.  :grinyes: :burnout:

As for style IMO it's one issue you can't win or debate about as it's all taste, some japanses cars look nice, the ones with wings, muffler jobs from nam etc thats when style goes out the window IMO. But I'm still man enough to admit there are jap cars out there that could easily teach us all a leason but also vice versa..........

What ever car you own, there is ALWAYS something faster out there. Luckily when we get beat we still look good, still worth more in the car market as far as rice? 40k invested, sell for $3,500 and they usually look like crap, oh and they lose 5 times as much.

I had to reread the entire thread, and, I have to say that the thread starter is damn lucky I was not around.  Because, I'd have made him cry. ;D
