I've been enjoying reading this thread started by "Paniesa" or "Ganiesa" or whatever his/her name is.
Really hilarious reading what he posted...
- Imports "look better." Lol. Is that what he calls "looking good?" Blob or egg-shaped things with no chrome or bumpers to speak of? Just shows he has no taste at all! Compare one of those funny-looking things to a '68-'70 Charger or '70 'Cuda/Challenger.
- Imports "last longer." How would he know that? How can a '60s U.S. muscle car be compared with an '80s or '90s import? I've seen many muscle cars at car shows that still have the original (unrebuilt) engine and/or transmission. In fact, most muscle cars had quite good reliability- especially considering the hard treatment most endure (burnouts, street or track racing, etc.).
- Imports are "easily modified." Where did he get that from? I modified my '66 Dart right in my driveway. Putting on an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold and 4-bbl carb was pretty easy. When I finished, the car started right up! I also put in a shift kit in the driveway. Just crawled under the car, pulled the oil pan, did the mods and was finished! Actually, a lot easier compared to an import!
- Muscle cars... "old-looking/old interior." Of course they are old-looking- that's one of the reasons for their appeal. I happen to like chrome bumpers and trim, and interiors that aren't 99% plastic. In fact, "new-looking" cars turn me off completely.
