Thanks for the update Big's.

My friend won't be able to register until Monday or Tuesday. We may be pushing it close but we shall see.

On Copart listing it say the car ACV: $21,560, what does ACV stand for?

My guess is Appraised Car Value....

Its actual cash value, but that can be VERY debateable. I see lots of stuff with crazy appraisals ( NIKKI included) . There was a rusty crusty 78 Lincoln Mark 5 at the auction last week with a "value of 5G's" . we all laughed when we saw that!

Unfortunately, my friend is unable to sign up and therefore bid on it and I have exhausted all my other options so far.

So, unless a miracle happens and soon it will land in someone else garage.

Ask your Copart division who a dealer is that they would recommend you using to buy the car. Many times they will give you someone. They are in the business to make money. The more bidders the more they make. I know that isn't good for you but it modivates them to give you a phone number of a dealer who may work with you.

Personally I've NEVER heard of this at Copart or IAA or Manhiem.

And I don't know of anyone who would bid without money up front. I still think it be a great project car for someone. Current prebid is $4,050 The live internet bidding is tomorrow. I'd like to say I'd be able to watch the bids and let everybody know what it went for. But that wont happen, to much goin' on between the shop and doctor tmorrow.

Your right Bigs, I stopped by Coparts today, and they do not give out ANY information about bidders or sellers. You can not even see the cars stored there from the parking lot or street. They have a ten foot high solid fence around the yard.
To become a bidder you need to complete an online form, and set up an appointment to finish your application.

It looks like this car is going to someone else.

Just a suggestion. You never know what might work.

I was only going to pre bid up to $6500 and a max bid of $8000 if I could have found someone to bid on it for me.

If you want details on how to become a bidder (dealer license required) pm me and I will send you the forms. However, be prepared in advance, as it takes time for them to check everything out and approve you as a bidder.

Thanks 67 but I'm a registered buyer at Copart/IAA/ and Manhiem already!

Not tryin' to sound like an *&%$ but thats how I know about these cars to begin with. Hang in there there's always another one.

If one comes up in my area I would glady check oit out for you.

BTW there's also the "buy fee" "gate fee" and if you buy online "internet fee" I don't think 8K would have got it done.

$8000 was all I was willing to go, sight unseen. I may have gone higher, if I could have seen it in person. It looked like it ran, but unless you go see the car. Who knows what surprises lie beneath?

The one thing I haven�t learned about Coparts, as well as the other. Is, if I am approved bidder, is that at one location or multiple locations?

I spoke with my friend again and he said he would sign up, but he attends four auctions a week now, and with the short notice I gave him, it made it hard to spend the time getting registered.

I know what you mean abut the sight unseen. I did a post awhile back on a 70 GTX that was is California. I was really intrested but couldn't look at it because of how far away it was. Sorry I don't know how to link to the post (maybe somebody can do that for me?) Anyway I was high bidder but ... they couldn't give me any info to justify bidding higher. The car was on a reserve and did not sell. They ever lowered the reserve but ..... no.

As for the locations question.... every state has different laws on bidding. EXAMPLE - I have a WIS. license ,to bid in Ill. you need to have an Ill. license. (got one BTW) In Cal. they will accept my Wis. license. But most states are going to the "must have our "state license". I think its a revenue issue. All the stolen cars in this contry don't help either. I can watch any auction in the country (on line) but cant always bid due to license requirements.

My wife is finally off her kumaro kick and wants a Cuda now, could be a tuff call...............
