I hope to 'make' a fender tag
« on: August 03, 2007 - 01:17:07 PM »
Just because I want something on the top of that fender......I have the old tag but it was too rusty to use. Of course I have the VIN and know my car is a '72 Cuda. I know how the car was optioned and would like to put those codes on a plate similar to the one that I have. I am not a numbers matching kind of guy and this will just be an obvious 'imitation' plate. What I am hoping for is someone to either show me a picture of their plate (dont need to see the actual numbers) or just tell me the order so that I can create one that imitates the original.

PS: My car also had an aluminum tag beside the fender tag, its about 6 inches long, one inch wide. I can make out the words FRAME, SOL, DOOR, DOOR, DRIL, METAL, FINAL, PAINT and these are kind of separated by dashes running top to bottom. What is this?

Just go on E-pay motors and type in cuda or charger ect in the search box.  Then click on "highest price" and the comeplete cars will come up first.  Lots of the high dollar cars will show their original fender tags

Thanks guys... That's my tag. I wish I could take credit for it, but my buddy Rick the AutoXR came up with the code. Back east did the tag. And yes... people get really pissed. They also assume I don't have the original tag, which of course I do it's just that I like walking around at shows and the tag is worth more than the car!

That aluminum tag that was underneath your original fender tag was just a stamping for the next guys down the line to know whatever was listed has been completed. (Similar to the metal tag found on the seat bottoms and throughout the car on areas that aren't seen without pulling stuff apart.)  Mine had one underneath it, too.

Welcome Ritchie. You should introduce yourself in the newbe intros section so we can all get to know you. Beautiful Challenger by the way.

Help, here is what I have........Re: I hope to 'make' a fender tag
« Reply #14 on: August 06, 2007 - 10:06:57 PM »
I have attached a picture of what is left of the fender tag. I also have a part of the build sheet and will send it as an attachment right away.

AGAIN, I am not trying to get this perfect, just would like the major codes in some semblence of the order that they should have appeared. Its a 72 340 Cuda, AT, AC, green interior, console, PS/Brakes, F3 light green/vinyl top, black stripes.
