How big of a hole do you cut in your package tray for 6X9's ?? I have the deluxe package tray with the speaker holes in them??? Did you mount your 5 1/4's to the kick panel or do some fab work??? Might go with the PYLE's cause they are yellow to match my car...any suggestions???

Also whats the difference between 3 way and 8 way speakers???

I would remove the package tray and mount your speakers from underneath without the speaker grilles.  Then reinstall the package tray.  It will look factory with no reason the cut the tray.  If you live in an area with a lot of hot sun, put speaker cloth between your speakers and the package tray to protect them from the sun.

did you fasten the 5 1/4's right to the kick panel??? I now under the package tray there is a provision to mount the speakers but do you mean mount form underneath the metal provision area??

Yes, i mounted them straight to the kickpanel. And yes, mount the rears on the underside of the steel package tray

goody do your 5 1/4's stick to the metal on the car behind the kick panels???

Mek how did you get them to mount on top??? fasten them to the package tray themself or mount them to the metal part of the package tray and cut a hole in the package tray and put screens?? Im thinking it will sound better if you mount them on top like MEK's ???

Also mounting them on the underside of the metal package tray do you need some sort of cushion between the speaker and metal package tray???

For what it's worth, I mounted my speakers on top of the package tray. Yes, I did hack away at the package tray to get 6"X9" openings.

You do not need a cushion.  If you mount them on top or on bottom of the tray make sure they are tightly mounted.  That way you won't get any sound vibrations or buzzing.

I bought components. I mounted the fronts underneath the dash facing down, and the tweeters near the bottom corner of the windshield.
Drive it like you stole it.
