Alright, who is gonna be the first?

I wanna buy the convertible power top off a wrecked new sebring hardtop convertible and make a hardtop E-body vert  :crazy: Either that or fabricate a folding hardtop out of a coupe. I think that would be the cats @ss!

LOL it is just a pipe dream. I think it would look cool but I dont even know if the top would even fit, much less look right on an e-body. I have always wanted to make a motorized, folding hardtop vert but I dont have the bucket of money or the fabrication skills required to pull it off  :grinno:

I have been thinking about making a vert also, not w/sebring stuff. I cant see it being that hard. What would the resell be like if it was done right? Would it sell close to a stock one?

I dunno. Whenever you get into the modififed world or anything more than restified its a crap shoot. Might sell for big dollars, might not even get a nibble. I would think it would be an easy sell if it was done right (torque boxes, subframe connectors, etc.) I think it would be a lot of trial and error to get the top to retract right and fold up into the trunk, which would also have to be motorized to open up and accept the top. Lotta blood, sweat, tears and dollars doing something like that imo.

You cant just "cut up" a hardtop unibody.  You need some serious reinforcement if you choose to go in that direction.   :grinyes:

Ha ha, I had been thinking about that same thing recently! With all of my recent cutting and fabing on the Twisted Fish project. Some friends and I were bench racing and started talking about a retractable hard top. ( This is how I ended up cutting my car apart and "channeling" it 2")  The problem I found is I would want the top to look like a "hardtop" not the smaller top required to fold up and fit. But making the trunk and filler panel motorized would be fun! If I didn't have a Convertible I think we would be in trouble!  :faint:
