Flip top black paint

Now that my flip top is re-chromed what type/kind of paint do I use to paint the black? Any special prep needed?

I just cleaned it really well with de-greaser and paint prep.  Shot it with some regular gloss black paint I had lying around.

how did you paint that and leave the FUEL chrome??

you can get a small brush or whatever to "fill" in the area that is to be black. Even if you get some black on the FUEL part you can just wipe it off while it is wet, it will look great. When I paint the ones I have I want to find something long lasting. I have even though of using a bit of the POR-15 that I have left, that stuff is pretty glossy and should last a LONG time.

The por15 has no uv protection.

I just sprayed the entire thing, then used a q-tip and wiped off what I wanted chrome before it dried.  And used a little knife to get around the edges.

Don't use Por-15.  Like said before, doesn't have UV protection and will yellow with exposure to sun.

I took your lead and tried it... worked Great.    Used a razor blade to scrape off the spray paint off the "F U E L" chrome inserts.... looks great.   Thanks for the idea!
