This poor thread.

NZ was kind enough to mention some major food chains here in the U.S., but half of the ones you are talking about I have never heard of.   :clueless:  I guess the bottom line is, we love to eat.   :jumping:

Krystals is good, haven't seen one outside of Georgia though.
If anyone has EVER eaten at In 'N' Out then they would say that is the best. I lived in Cali and never at anywhere else for fast food except the burrito stands.
In 'N' Out is , to my knowledge, only in Cali, Las Vegas, and I ate at one in Pheonix. Thier beef is never frozen, fries cut from whole potatoes every morning. They have secret menu items, you can get your burger "Animal Style". It is a 50's themed place and it isn't just decorated like it but the kids that work there are what you would expect from the 50's and the food is prpared the exact same way. It is probably the largest non-franchise fast food chain, owned by the same family for years.
My wife worked there when she was in high school I've heard everything about it and there seems to be a sense of pride with it's employees.

Forgot about Sonic Drive-In. It is a great place to cruise too and hang out. Alot of them still have roller skating car hops that bring your food to you. They quit doing the tray that hung on your window, probably because the drove off all the time.
Sonic started in my hometown in the 70's in Oklahoma and now they are in most states. Alot of them will host cruise nights.

Holy Cow!!! They went away in the late 1980's, or early 1990's.  :smilielol: I LOVED their spicey chicken though.  :2thumbs:

I guess I am getting this question more off-topic.  Sorry.  :-[

I voted Subway, since I can convince myself it's not fast food.
