« on: August 12, 2007 - 07:34:24 AM »
I am looking forward to buy a Dodge/Chrysler Neon as my first mopar :) I will probably buy Europe version named Chrysler Neon that has 2.0 liter engine with 134 HP...

Is that engine from Japan...I mean by mitstubishi or it is "American-made" engine? What is your opinion about Neon?

Read more about the Neon here: http://www.allpar.com/neon/

I like the Neon, would'nt mind having one myself.

I am almost positive it is American designed and built and then shared with Mitsubishi during their collaborative years. Very durable engine as far as I can tell.

that 2.0 or also known as the 420a ( basically thee same engine just the cly head is on in the oppsite direction and is a non turbo as well) is from the DSM era (diamond star motors) they are very good engines as long as the required service work is done within their suggested time frame.  Over the years they have gotten a bad rep. mostly cause the "kids" that buy the turbo'd ver. of the eclipse/laser/talon beat the living snot out of them.  And dont do the work when it's suppost to be done or do there "mods" incorrectly.  I have a 1990 Eagle Talon AWD that i have done alot of work to i got the car in 2002 with 155,000 miles and it ran perfect currently the set up i have is far from stock but none the less i would have no problems driving this car across the country in a heartbeat.   :2cents:

That would be the U.S. version. I have a 99 DOHC 5 speed I use to drive to work. It gets around 31mpg on the highway. Bought it new in 98 and have put 2 headgaskets and 4 sets of front brakes and one clutch. It has been a great car and it ran low 10 in the 1/8 mile.... :2thumbs:
