A duster just rotting away
« on: August 12, 2007 - 06:43:49 PM »
My dad and I went to a local guy who is said to have a ton of old cars behind his house and well he did, mostly GEO metros :roflsmiley:  However, my dad ended up buying a 62 savoy from him for 300 bucks RUNNING!!  However this duster was sitting in yard just rotting away, and he won't sell it.  its a 74 duster slant 6/904, really decent shape.  Grr this makes me mad. :villagers:  why do people have to let such good cars go to waste.

That's what gets you. You know 20 years from now, it will be rotted down to the frame.... because he never got to it.   :walkaway:

Wish I had a dollar for every duster I threw away for scrap in the 70's and 80's. They were just cheap cars with bad front ends and bad wireing.  seems everybody owned one backin the day.

You ready for this, the guy finally says that he'll sell it for 5000 firm.  :roflsmiley:  Whats does he think it is, a 70 cuda???  It may run, but still its a slant 6 74 duster.

5K??  I guess we know where this is going.   :walkaway:

That's so sad, but nobody would give more than 3K for that.   :pullinghair:

Yeah, its going nowhere., IMO, its only worth maybe 1500, maybe, depending on just how bad the floor boards and trunk are, its hard to tell in the weeds and mud.

"Firm" means he'll negotiate (he's already started negotiations). I have no idea what it's worth to you, but say $3000. Show him the cash. If he won't budge, then walk away and let him stew for a day or two. He'll change his mind and call.

It's got to be cash, though. Cash short circuits out the reasoning sections of the brain. Checks don't work half as good.

oh its a pretty solid car, and it does run and drives, dad just drove it last month, guy still wont come down, dad dropped 2500 cash on the hood and the guy walked away  :villagers: he says that these mopars are through the roof right now, says hes seen some dusters go for 15K or more, i told him yeah, withs 340s and 4spds and not 73/74s either.  hes also got a 72 dart sport with a 318/904 in it that runs and drive, wants 7k for it, its in really nice shape, garage kept. IMO, id say the slant 6 duster is worth maybe 1500, floor boards and most of the metall is in good shape, trunk extension panels arent too bad, but they are the worst on the car. but still
