Need to rebuild some leaf springs
« on: August 12, 2007 - 10:59:35 PM »
So, I took my leaf springs to a company that blasts and powder coats, and told them to blast my springs. They also powder coated them, and in so doing melted the plastic spacers between the springs. Can I purchase those spacers somewhere?

The springs were something that I wouldn't powder coat as my guy that does the coating told me that the heat of the oven could hurt the springs.  That included all springs like hood, carb and everything else.  Yep plastic doesn't hold up too well in a 300* + oven.   :grinno:

If it was me, I would ask here!  I would think you can get the plastic.

You should check to see what they were baked to.... If they got too hot. They are'nt very good anymore.

I had some hood hinges, with springs, chemically stripped, which I think also involved backing them first to burn off any old paint.  That also ruined the springs.
