Looking good.  I should be getting my headlight bezels back in a few weeks, then I can get the front end together on my car.

Looks straight to me.

Thanks Ryan, but I am having some trouble finding that Kyrlon paint you showed. Just to be sure is that silver #2522 and graphite #2521 that you showed? Before I order a case of the wrong color. Thanks again.

Paint test...

On the left, 2521 graphite.
On the right 2520 black.

First pic the sample is sitting on an original 71 argent grill. 2520 black is way to dark to even come close IMO. However 2521 graphite is very close.

Second pic the sample is on fresh "dark argent" from Totally Auto. The 2520 black is still way to dark. Now the 2521 graphite is another story, dead on match to the dark argent stuff. The flash made it look a little off, but when you look at the two paints it is a match.

I am going to use the 2521 graphite in place of the dark argent. And would say we have a winner for cheep "Dark Argent" paint everyone... :woo:

So the cheapo Krylon stuff 2521 is dead on match for a non-R/T grill?

Sorry about the black not working out for you.  Since my car is no concourse restoration it will work alright for me.  Plus I stripped mine down to basic black for the R/T look.

Good luck

You can get the fusion 2521 and the lighter 2522 at Ace Hardware.  2522 looks nice on the later rallye wheel caps or if you want to lighten up a grille even more.

I sprayed some on a broken 'CUDA grille to compare

So the cheapo Krylon stuff 2521 is dead on match for a non-R/T grill?

Steve, it looks real close. I would not go as far as saying it is an exact match, as nothing seems to be perfect match to the original dark argent. But this Krylon Fusion 2521 graphite stuff looks good enough for me. It is very close.  :cooldancing:

No problem my friend, you helped me out big time. Now I will save some money on paint also. Big thanks.
I am not going for concourse either, I just wanted it to look close. I still have 2 grilles to paint, 2 more tail panels and six wheel centers.

Man you got lucky, I looked in about 10 stores for that stuff. Both Ace Hardware stores i went to did not have it in stock. I could only find the one can of the graphite color.  :faint:

I have a question on the tail panel pictured earlier. The top is outlined in silver. Is that correct for an R/T?I thought the entire panel was black except for the area around the taillights.

Thanks,Dave

I think you got it right, the top outline would be black on an R/T tail panel. My car is not an R/T just some one put an R/T stripe on my car. They painted the grille and tailpanel on my car black, but I am painting the grille and tail panel back to argent.
