How many COWL water drains are there on an Ebody?
« on: August 15, 2007 - 08:54:06 AM »
I have been working on my cowl and can see the one drain in the center that has the little rubber oblong cover loosely over that hole, but it appears that there is at LEAST one at each end of the cowl as well. I can feel one besided the inner fenders toward the front of the car, but I may have felt another closer to the windshield side of the fender. Can someone verify this?

Thanks! George

Three I know of. Center under the wiper assemblies, (with the flap) and one each on the sides of the cowl, about 3" back from the front side of the cowl panel. Almost directly over the bolts for the lower dege of the fenders, but below the cowl cap.

From my knowledge, there are three drains also. (At least on my '73)  I'll get some photos of mine for you once I get off work today.

That depends on how much rust you have!  :naughty:

... but there should only be three.

Here is a picture of a 70 Challenger. I thought there was one in the center. I'm not sure where the others might be. I know there's a round hole near the brake booster. The center one is always the one with junk in it.

Thats a great picture of the side drains...

My brother's 71 Cuda rusted out because the pine needles were never cleaned out.

I guess it depends on if you have a holey cowl.   Sorry, that was a BAD pun.  :misbehaving:

I caught mine in time.......there were some extra drains, must have been a special build car? Anyway, I glassed them and then POR 15'ed both sides....it was not easy to say the least. I did not take the front end apart, but worked my hands in where I could. Its not near perfect, but it will be fine considering my use for the car. It will be a w/e cruiser only and its kept in the garage.
