new Holley 670 carb install
« on: August 15, 2007 - 09:31:37 AM »
I finally bought another carb, decided agains the T-quad and went back with the same carb I had previous, the Holley 670 Street Avenger. Those carbs are supposedly good to go out of the box. From reading however, that is rarely the case. At a minimum, what do I need to set on this thing?

I set the floats low before starting & adjust float levels , adjust the idle mixture screws once the engine is warm & take a vacuum reading at idle in gear , if it is lower than 7.5" replace the power valve with a lower rated one

Cool - do I take the reading from the manifold or from the metered port on the carb?

Will these adjustments, particularly the vacuum adjustments have an affect on engine running temps? I checked all my vacuum lines and AC plenum and brake booster for leaks and found nothing.

Holley says jetting on these should be pretty close. How often do you find you need to change jets from what it shipped with?

Your jets should be within a couple of sizes, at worse. Just a note, you may have to adjust that electric choke some. Turn it clock-wise(the black pod) to open it up sooner.
