Synthetic oil

I've been running Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic in my pickup for the last 80,000 miles with no problems what so ever. No noises, no oil burning. I change it every 5,000 miles. I currently have 110,000 miles on it and it doesn't use a drop between oil changes.

my 499 has catrol 5w 30 in it but the motor is till new with only 390 miles on it??? should I upgrade to something else soon???

It is up to you, but I would use 10w-30 in that motor.   Just remember to wait 3000 miles before using a synthetic oil.

Is the 3000 miles for ring and piston break-in? I ask because while my motor is already broke in, I did change the cam and lifters and on first oil change (under 1000 milles) I went with Royal Purple. Any risk there?

the 300 miles is for ring seating so using synthetic with a new cam after the initial break in is OK
