Weekend of progress!
« on: August 20, 2007 - 11:34:30 AM »
Spent some time during the weekend before last, mounting the new engine to the k-frame and putting it all on a dolly.  Then this last Saturday, installed the flywheel, clutch, transmission, starter, and headers.  Then worked on Sunday installing the entire assembly in the car.  All I can say is, "whew!"  The motor was installed from the bottom up.
After it was installed, all I could think about was, I hope I don't have to take it back out.  It is a tight fit and there is definitely an order of assembly and disassembly to get it all to work.   The motor won't fit, all assembled as I had it, with the valve covers on.  After it was installed, you can't get the valve covers off or on with the passenger side shock installed or the master cylinder assembly installed.  But really after it was put in, it really fit well.
I can really see the the quality in the TTI headers as well.  To see first hand what they have to avoid and that they do avoid touching everything with precision, is very impressive.

If I didn't put them on the fenders, I would be tripping over them all day.  :misbehaving:
