Hey guys!
« on: August 21, 2007 - 02:13:21 PM »
New guy from socal. I just got a 68 Barracuda with a 340 engine. It was my grandpas before me so he gave it to me for a great price :2thumbs:

It has 3 two barrels, 4 speed manual, 4 wheel discs, and runs 100 in the quarter. It just needs a little bit of restoration to get it streetworthy again. I am going to work quick as hell on this thing. It needs new paint, new seats, probably just new gaskets on the motor, new air cleaner, and new wheels, and probably some sort of brake work. This has been sitting for quite awhile.

Anyone have a picture of a barracuda with weld prostars on it?

Also what kind of rear end do I have. Sorry for the noob question but thats why I'm here lol

Welcome, sounds like you got a good project about to be in the works.

As for the rear end, if it was originally a v8 car, it should have a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.   :bricks1:

You guys were right it is a 8 3/4 rear end. :bananasmi

I just found out from my grandpa that it was in 5 popular hot rodding issues. It was project barracuda in their magazine.

My grandpa gave me all the issues from 1972 which were like $1.00 each at the time. I figured out all of the specs for the car.
It has rear discs from an imperial.  :woohoo:
I guess only like 1000 imperials came that way.
 :useless:
I know I will get pics as soon as I can.

Hey Krazy4,
Welcome to the site!! Sounds like on fast '68!!!  :ylsuper: Was it originally a 340 car?? A formula "S" possibly?? Is it a fastback or coupe? I am waiting with baited breath for pics!! I own a 1968 Barracuda coupe with a hot little 360 in it. It was originally a 318 car (F code) and the rear end was a 7 1/4. You may have had your rear end swaped out with all the mods done to the car. I'm not sure if the 340's came with an 8 3/4?? Keep us posted on the car!! Sounds HOT!!!

Yeah it is a formula S. It has two little plates on the hood that say 340 S. It is also a fastback.
