My ears perked up...
« on: August 26, 2007 - 01:28:55 PM »
Today when my Dad talked to me.  No, it wasnt a life lesson, lol.  A guy stopped to give us a quote to shingle our barn roof.  The shed door happened to be open, revealing my car under-cover, and the first thing the guy said to my dad was, "is that a cuda or challenger?"  So at least the guy wasnt Mopar-dumb.   So they get talking about cars and stuff and the guy tells my dad he's got a friend that has a 70 Hemicuda.  So dad's like cool, you know, thats real neat.  Then the guy says its sitting in a barn.  With 2" of bird crap on it.  Dad told me this and I almost died.  He said he wanted to sell it a while ago, but doesnt want to now.  I know what its worth, and the guy that told us about it knows what its worth.  But, he doesnt think the guy that owns it does.  The guy that is figuring our quote lives in a town 20 miles away about, so I figure this car is not too far off.  He is calling tomorrow with our quote, Dad wont be home, he he he, so I get to talk to him.  Chances are slim, but at the least I would want to go look at it, and get a pic or two.   :-\

Someone give me some false hope!   :jumping:

Good luck getting a look at the 70 Hemicuda. If you do try and get some pictures so we can all check it out and find out how much he would take for the Hemi!

Yeah that sounds typical. I found a 70 challenger, all original about 6 monthes ago. It has been sitting in a field for who knows how long, and yet the guy doesn't want to sell it. I tried to convince him that if he lets it continue to deterioate that it wouldn't be worth anything but scrap and a few parts he could sell off it. Needless to say it is still sitting in the field and always will be. The Challenger i have now, i bought from a fellow that had it sitting in his shop for about 8 years. He finally decided that he was not getting any younger and could not devote any time to restoring it.

One of my friends has a family friend who owns an all original #'s matching 440-6 original FC7 Superbird.  I asked my buddy what he wanted for it, and he saw the guy a couple months ago and said I was interested, but the guy absolutely refuses to sell it.  My friend is like "He should sell it to you and let you restore it since it just sits in his barn and rots"  Kinda sad.  Not sure why people who are sitting on nice cars just let them rot away, their only motivation is to be stubborn.

I hate stories like that because they always seem to turnout to be b/s.  Seems to me the shingle guy would keep quiet a make a play for it himself.  I wish you luck but I always get let down, I don't think there are any barn-find hemi cars left out there.  People like to talk sh*t, I'm just jaded I guess...

I know what you mean.  I've had my share of BS ones.  I just thought I'd share, the most fun is always the chasing anyways.  Even if its just a BH rotten '74 or something, would still be fun to go look.    :swaying:
