Cable is your best bet unless you have fiber in your neighborhood. Not many neighborhoods have fiber yet, but it spreading pretty quick.

I just got the Verizon Fios and combined with the home phone package, it'll be cheaper that my DSL and verizon hoime phone before the FIOS install. Speed is pretty noticeable with uploads and down loads. I jusy uploaded a lot of pic to my pjotobucket and it's a lot faster, even with the slowest FIOS speed.
Do you have FIOS where you are?

Torred, I have DSL here and so far love using it even though the connection for downloading is slower than my cable down at school. As for fiber, I'd think you'd be getting that relatively soon as when I worked for Cable Constructors, Inc. this past summer they had a bunch of new projects dealing with fiber on the east coast. (several different companies, too)

Have you checked on wireless internet? I had it through my cell phone company, my problem was, I live in the woods and in the spring when the leaves grew back on the trees it created too much interference. If you live in the city it should be ok. It was faster than DSL (when it worked), and not much more expensive.

I had DSL for years and it was great and reliable. I also had cable back with my parents and cable here in NC. Both are fast as hell.
Anyone on 56k these days who has ANY other options must be a glutton for punishment.

Especially when they are looking at pics from some car show on this site. I learned my lesson.
