I`m sure most officers feel it a privlage to be in the President`s motorcade but IF the way they operate is causing these accidents then the Secret Service or whoever plans them out should look into it.

392,

Also, the barb about the president calling to express his condolences wasn't direct at Bush either, but at the Rio Rancho PD Public Information Officer who fell allover himself expressing how great it was that Bush took time out of his busy schedule to call!

Looking at it that way, I have to agree, too many "political" types aren't in touch with reality.

I have the utmost respect for those who put their lives on the line.  I hope there wasn't any confusion about that.

I am certainly *not  a fan* of Bush (the worst President ever).  But this certainly doesn't fall on his shoulders (There IS something he can't be blamed for!)  ;)

I don't think it was really 'pomp and circumstance', but just ordinary security detail.  Heck, here in Detroit, the mayor has a security detail that is probably larger than the Presidential detail.

Either way, it is sad, and I'm surprised it wasn't on the national news, at least that I saw.

You misunderstood me. I thought your reply was funny!.. I should also have added a  :roflsmiley: after my reply, but I was just trying to be a smarta*s in return.
