I have been thinking about upgrading the clutch, shifter, and getting a tune for it.   Glad you brought up the shifter because I almost forgot, when you are really banging the gears, that second to third shift is really hard to get.  A lot of people say a new shifter helps a lot, but you trade off with more noise in the shifter.  They are a little shorter as well.  Not sure what clutch I am going to go with.  I probably won't do anything till the Cuda is done.  :dunno:

I've heard (just joined the VTCOA Forum) that the best there are is "Gen X shifter" available from the forum. Get the final generation shifter $399, lots of videos and everyone with a T56 is running them over there, shorter shift and precise gated springs? making 2-3 almost unmissable. I have heard that the Viper spec T56s are just a precise throwing gearbox, you really need to get use to the car before shifting under WOT and driving enthusiastically.

The guy (Boomer) that makes the shifters runs a company called X-Metal.  He makes a lot of billet extras and sells a lot of other performance products for the trucks as well.  There are a lot of guys there that speak very well of him and his products.   http://x-metal.com

...my biggest complaint with the SRT10 has always been the brakes, they will put your nose in the windshield till you get used to them....VERY TOUCHY....

Good!!  I thought maybe it was just me, but damn do the brakes work good on these trucks...which is a good thing, unless your driving about 10 Mph and touch the brakes...WHAM...your stopped instantly.

The brakes are very sensitive and really feel a lot like the Z06 I had.  If you have never driven a car with big brakes, it really will surprise you, but you will adjust to them. :burnout:

I've driven Dad's SRT8 plenty of times and at first the brakes were quite touchy, now I'm use to them. Those brakes are big buggers too lol. I watched a review on the SRT10 done by some Kiwis for TV, they said the brakes felt quite spongy and soft. They also said the shifter is quite heavy and quite hard to shift fast. This was tested by the presenter who is just a "normal" guy, no pro racing driver etc. Very, very tempted about this truck and knowing my live once attitude there'll be one heading to NZ before long, we'll see.............  :naughty:

I really think it would be a great investment. They're not worth much now for the same reason Hemi Cudas weren't worth much 25 years ago. If I had the extra cash laying around, I'd buy one and store it.

Thanks for the input 6pack. Good thing is, if I do get one, it would only be from the states. It would arrive here all legal (WOF, VIN, REG, Certified RHD conversion etc) for $50K, which, is what my Ford is worth. The good thing is that in NZ they cost at the minimum $80-$90,000. So, I save myself BIG $$$ by doing the work of importing and converting it myself, so, if I did ever sell it, I would make a tidy profit straight away of $30K+ But, I never by for re-sale but it's always nice to know that I wouldn't lose out or sell my vehicle for a loss.
