Automatic 3 speed 727 rebuild kit, which one and why?

Ok, I've got my motor out of my 'cuda and figured it was a good idea to remove the transmission and rebuild that why I have it out.

1.) I have never removed a transmission before, so any help there would be appreciated!

However as the topic states I am in the market for a good rebuild kit. Something that has everything a novice would need to do the rebuild in my own garage, (including some instructions) like the B&M kit from Summit. Anyone got anything good or bad to say about this kit?

Anyone got any kits and details on how to do this?

Do not buy the B&M kit,go Transgo. I can help you with parts. :cheers:

For a nice complete kit with a shift kit, I'd go Transgo definately. But I think the bands are still sold seperate. FOr stock type rebuilds, or ones that are getting new valve bodies, I use Bulkpart.com.

I will have to save out the pictures!

I actually picked up that book, which is one of the reasons why I am considering rebuilding it myself.

I found my way to TransGo. Do you have a parts list as to what all I need?

Thanks a bunch for the info thus far.

You'll need * :
Master w/steels
filter (large dacron)
pump bushing
direct drum bushing
extension housing bushing
intermediate band
low and rev. band (if needed)
SK TF SC Transgo shift kit
torque converter

*other small miscellaneous parts may be needed

HEY TACTRANSMAN, MY 727 BEHIND MY 440 , I REBUILT ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO, HAS JUST LOST REVERSE, HAS GOT ALL FORWARD GEARS NO PROBS, INC MANUAL LOW , IS IT LOW/REVERSE BAND BROKEN? OR WHATS YOURE THOUGHTS? THANKS OZ!
