VERY close call with the Barracuda today...
« on: August 30, 2007 - 08:55:24 PM »
As I was on my way to work, I caught a red light at an intersection where I need to turn left.  Once the light turned green, I started making my turn, when I saw some movement out of the corner of my eye, so I glance over, and see a female driver going MUCH too fast to be able to stop for the red light.  I didn't even have time to think, I just slammed the brakes as she.  She hit her brakes a second later, and slowed down a littlel, still going through the intersection, passing within a foot of the front of my car.  If I hadn't noticed her, she would have slammed right into my drivers side door.  I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, so if that had happened, I'd have been in big trouble.  Of course, I was stupid for not wearing my seatbelt, and I fully intend to wear it every time I drive now, but Jesus, some people should not be behind the wheel of a car.

Yikes! :scared: Glad you saw it coming. It's good to be an alert driver, but you still need to wear that seat belt. It is the law after all here in good ol' Nebraska.

Thank God it went well. People run lights ALL the time around here so I always take a extra moment to go forward when the light turns green. If the guy behind me doesn't like it too bad it's just crazy out there.

Not to pick on women drivers but I almost smoked a women who turned left in front of me today.  A few minutes before another young lady ran a red.  What's with people?????  You just can't loose your concentration for one second.

I have noticed that every time someone has almost hit me, they've been female.  I think I should call my congressman, and get a bill that requires women to have stricter drivers tests. :stirpot:

:faint: this has happened to me to many times.  :pullinghair: and it's usually a young female around 16-20 yaping on the cell phone.  :swear: thats why i'm a very defefensive driver all the time, constantly scanning l-r and rearview.i can't tell you how many accidents i would have been in otherwise.  :banghead:

I have seen too many bonehead moves while someone is yapping on the phone.  It applies to men and women although I think some women are more involved in their conversations than guys although I am sure we are all distracted while talking.  This guy last week ran a crosswalk while people were trying to cross.  The oncoming lane had stopped.  There are so few cops patrolling you can pretty much do what you want around here.  It's just a free for all.
