been a long time, December 05; received the 70 " T / A " convertible creation with the 340 6 Pak, started the 540 (710 hp) hemi motor in March 07 (never was street viable for us - unfortunately); completing the 6.1 by the end of September

very nice,  What was it about the 540 that wasnt streetable? Did you have a radical cam in it? HIgh compression?

actually 10.5 to 1, supposed to be custom mid cam, just problems with the engine from the outset from the builder

never made a good match with the convertible, i believe the hp and later upgrades for the 6.1 will make me more satisfied

thanx for the compliments

Looks good, the 6.1L Hemi is a nice engine. Dad's is awesome, real nice mechanical sound (as Hemis are), you'll enjoy it. Shame to hear the 540ci was too much for yah but never mind, looks like you're back on track.

agreed, The 6.1 hemi motor is a very good motor with a lot of potential for some real nice power with the right engine management system. The Factory cars with them are held back greatly due to the computer and they produce an honest 425hp

Make sure you run a proper Mopar Performance (CAI) Cold Air Induction setup, ads around 12-15hp and makes the car sound a hell of a lot better to. Dad's is stock except for that and it made a big difference. Him & Mum want it quiet for cruising but when you nail it some sound, man, this thing has a sexy sound to it. You can hardly hear it at all driving around, until you go for gold. Dad's engine bay below with the MP CAI. Looks smart.

Hey cudabuyer, What trans are you using? I plan to buy one of the new 6.1 crate motors for my other 71 cuda that I'm going to restore next year and have pretty much decided to use the Keisler 5 speed to simplify things. My wife wants the same setup in her superbird clone.
I've been asked to install a 2005 5.7 hemi /5 speed automatic setup in a 73 cuda by one of my customers and I've been told to expect problems with making the tranny fit the tunnel. The only modern driveline that I've installed so far is a 1995 5.9/A518 setup in my wife's 73 Cuda. A lot more simple than the late hemi stuff, I'm sure. Any suggestions? Thanks
