I have a tci street fighter trans in my cuda and no problems at all use a lokar cable for the kickdown if you dont have it precise you can burn up trans make sure your kickdown is right and if it is no problem on that trans would definatly recommend it.

T.C.I. ...............very over priced trannies for what you get. :grinyes:

This about a $450/$500 tranny but I think that includes the core charge. $879.95 + $85.00 shipping

well for total crap as you say it holds up against my 485hp 440 and not have a lick of trouble the orginal trans broke twice and was rebuilt. So i believe this is a good trans for the money.

TCI transbrake turbo 400
4 years of street driving and numerous 9.0 @ 150 passes in a 3800 pound car and never had an issue.
Still probably wasn't worth the grand, but it was in the car when I bought it and definitely can't complain.
Never would have guessed it would have lived under the stress I put it through.
Someone once told me you could build a turbo 400 in a sandbox and make it live?
I would think TCI is hit or miss on their quality, plus something to be said for no core charges if you don't have a donor trans.

I do remember from my racing days that my instructions always said to use Ford or B+M tranny fluid due to a better friction qualities of the fluids, so that's what I used.  Dextron was supposed to be better for the rubber seals. I never bought an aftermarket tranny though so I don't know anything about the TCI brand.

I'll agree TCI=Total Crap Inc.  It is reasonable to expect a faulty unit here or there, but I think the ratio of good units to bad units is 1:1.
Like above, half say bad the other half say they are great.  Well I switch you my TCI for yours then.  Overpriced is probably why I feel so jaded.

I have about 30,000 miles on mine and it's now ready for a rebuild this winter.  I have a flare up from 2 - 3 when accelerating hard.

Try adjusting the bands on that one first. It should take care of that. You have to drop the pan to change the filter anyway.
