price question

my farther is looking to get a cuda he is willing to spend around 80k what would be his best option? a hemi clone, matching #'s, hard top or convert. 70 or 71??thanks

What does your father want? 80K is definitely a good amount so he shouldn't have too much of a worry getting a lovely car. He could buy a Hemi custom, say 472ci Hemi, 5-Speed for around that price. There was one on eBay not long ago (could still be there?) and the seller was asking $89K. Was fully restored, plum crazy. Pay & drive the same day. But, like most things in this hobby it comes down to personal choice, opinion & preference, so, only your Dad can decided what is worth $80K to him.  Let us know how you & your Dad get on.

While the market isn't in freefall yet, waiting a little longer might bring the best prices.  On the other hand there are some super cars out there for 50K right now

Seems like he should have tons of options if he's willing to put up 80G's. What does he like? He's gotta be happy with it. Nothing worse that blowing your wad on some car you dont like.

AAR CUDA.....the best option in the price range......get as nice of a car as you can find, matching numbers, doccumentation etc etc....get a good color and enjoy driving a low production, special edition CUDA....they will only appreciate in the years to come....

If he likes the look of the '70 go for the AAR (4spd if he can drive one) it will appreciate the most. Otherwise, go for a '71.  I'd buy a matching # car if I were him, he can get a nice 340 or 383 for that price.

1. If he wants to collect only and not driving it: Buy a #'s matching survivor or a fully restored #'s matching car. The more documents the better and the higher price.
For the 80K, I suggest an AAR or a 440 Six-Pack. A 340 nicely equipped by the factory is great too.
Do not think he will take it out each weekend. He will end up telling you that the car is too good and too rare to be driven. It will end up in the garage forever, like mine...

2. If he wants to drive it and does not really care about numbers, tags and old faded paper sheets: Buy a 440 Six-Pack or a Hemi, that will give him the most fun and tickets.

Or, and this is the best way: Buy both !

I would agree that an AAR or T/A are very good deals. Convertibles are a great option and a #'s matching big block or 340 is a good way to go. What does he want the car for? and what does HE like. Personally i would get a convertible for the fun not sweating to death factor or a t/a of aar. I would think they are obtainable for 60K, also the new challenger is around the corner, buy a new one and a nice 40k older one.

I would go convertible or AAR/TA.  What ever he goes with, put some pictures up.
