This is a question I've been meaning to ask for a few months now and never got around to it. Niether of my front sidemakers light up. Ok so I think bulbs... no, And not rusted sockets either. As most of you know the sockets have two small "heads" inside them. If I hold the bulb (Push it) into the socket the bulbs do light. These are the original sockets from what I can tell. It's like the "heads" dont have any tension to stay in contact with the bulbs any more. Any way to remedy this or do I just replace the sockets??  :dunno:

The little contacts on the bottom of the socket are crimped onto each wire and threaded through the little fiber disk on the bottom of the socket.  What seems to have happened with mine is that, with the bulb in place, the wires got pulled from the back, and so the wires were pulling the contacts inward so they were sitting low in the sockets.  Here's what I would try:
1- Put a little WD-40 on the fiber disk to make sure it can go smoothly up and down, and
2- With a needle nose pliers, grab the contacts, one at a time, and give them some gentle tugs upward to pull the wire back up through all the insulation, and then
3- Lightly sand the contacts

make sure the wires aren't kinked (at a 90 degree angle or anything) where they come out of the socket, that can limit the amount of tension the spring can apply to the bulb. Also, the bulbs wear out, is the leaded contact have a worn concave pattern in them? Try new bulbs if so. Also you can remove the bulb and "work" the contact plate up and down, maybe there is some crud in there that isn't allowing the plate to move freely. Also you could clean the contacts in the socket with a pencil eraser if they are not shiny.

Thanks FY1 & nts , I'll give it a shot! Was just afraid of breaking them and then "have to" replace senario.   :cheers:
