Pick a car any car
« on: September 04, 2007 - 05:59:00 AM »
I am thinking that in the next 6 months or so I will be buying a car that will stricly be a driver back and forth to work. it is about a 65 mile round trip drive that I make 7 days a week. I am not that interested in looks as much as I am in milage and dependability.

Without sounding rude, what price range? Without knowing I'd say a 300C, Charger or Jeep. :2cents:

I have a '98 GT that I've been amazed by the Mpg's high 20's on the road 17+ around town....also Zero issues in 30K...even still has the original battery.

Mileage?  Noth those cars.  The v6 chargers/300's only get 28mpg highway, supposedly.  Not to mention expensive.  Jeeps get very poor mileage too, and arent cheap either.

There has to be something cheaper, that gets much better mileage.  I'm looking at Stealths and Avengers, which can rack up tons of miles before they have to be serviced, and they get over 30 mpg, average.

But :iagree: with Carl in asking what you want to spend.   :grinyes:

A buddy of mine sold his 01 Intrepid for $5K recently. It was always well maintained getting a combined 30-31mpg. Of course he always drove sensibly where speed limits were concerned. I missed that class...

I am not that interested in looks as much as I am in milage and dependability.

I always like Hondas and Toyotas.  Not always much in the fun factor territory depending on the model, but they do last and have decent mileage.

10-15k would be about right. I have a Volvo S60 right now and get around 30 mpg but it just lacks the fun.

Hate to say it, but I vote for honda or toyota also. Do some research on Edmunds.com, there is some great info there.

I hate to admit it here, but I drive a Toyota Yaris 60 miles round trip (and get close to 50MPG. )

I just put on a Dire Straits CD, turn it up, and laugh at the guy in the $100,000 Mercedes stuck in the stopped traffic beside me.  I am dry, comfortable, get to work just as fast, and save mucho $$$$.   :money:

I save the fun factor for my other cars on the weekend.

My VW Golf TDI was dependable and got great mileage. It was also the most boring car I ever owned.

I drive an Acura Integra, and would love to buy an RSX.  I get 30mpg city and the car is fun around the corners with a 5-speed.  The stock stereo is nice too.

I would definitely take the Honda/Toyota route here.  The mileage and dependability are top notch, and they have good re-sale value.
